"กัปตันมาร์เวล" ไบรอัน ร็อบสัน อดีตกัปตันทีมชาติอังกฤษ ถือเป็นสุดยอดผู้เล่นแผงกองกลางแดนผู้ดี ที่สร้างชื่อกับ แมนฯ ยูไนเต็ด ในฐานะนักเตะก่อนจะคุมทัพ "เดอะโบโร" กุนซือคนดังผู้ตกเป็นข่าวกับทีมชาติไทยคนล่าสุด

       หลังการจากไปของ ปีเตอร์ รีด กุนซือชาวอังกฤษ ที่ตัดสินใจทิ้งเก้าอี้นายใหญ่ทีมชาติไทย เพื่อไปนั่งเก้าอี้ตัวเล็กในฐานะผู้ช่วยกุนซือ โทนี พูลิส บอสทีม "ช่างปั้นหม้อ" สโต๊ก ซิตี แห่งศึกพรีเมียร์ลีก อังกฤษ ส่งผลให้ผู้บริหารสมาคมฟุตบอลแห่งประเทศไทยฯ ต้องวิ่งวุ่นเพื่อหานายใหญ่คนใหม่ของทีมชาติไทยมาแทน

       โดยล่าสุด "บิ๊กยี" วรวีร์ มะกูดี ประมุขลูกหนังไทย ตัดสินใจทาบทาม "กัปตันมาร์เวล" ไบรอัน ร็อบสัน อดีตกัปตันทีมชาติอังกฤษ มาทำหน้าที่ดังกล่าวแทน ปีเตอร์ รีด ซึ่งนับว่าเรียกเสียงฮือฮาจากแฟนลูกหนังไทยได้เป็นอย่างดี

       สำหรับ ร็อบสัน กุนซือชื่อดังชาวอังกฤษ ปัจจุบันอายุ 52 ปี เริ่มต้นฝึกฟุตบอลกับสโมสร เวสต์ บรอมวิช อัลเบียน ตั้งแต่ปี 1972 ก่อนถูกดันขึ้นสู่ทีมชุดใหญ่ในปี 1974 และอยู่กับทีมเรื่อยมาจนกระทั่งปี 1981 หลังโชว์ผลงานได้ดีจนถูก "ปิศาจแดง" แมนเชสเตอร์ ยูไนเต็ด คว้าตัวไปร่วมทีม ก่อนจะกลายเป็นแกนหลัก และสร้างผลงานยอดเยี่ยมด้วยการคว้าแชมป์พรีเมียร์ลีก มาครองได้ 2 ครั้ง, เอฟเอ คัพ 4 ครั้ง, ลีก คัพ 1 ครั้ง

       กระทั่งถูกเรียกเข้าสู่ทีม "ทรีไลออน" โดยผลงานของ ร็อบสัน ลงเล่นไป 90 นัด ซัดไป 26 ประตู นับเป็นกองกลางสุดคลาสสิคอีกคนของวงการลูกหนังอังกฤษ จนได้รับฉายา "ร็อบโบ" และ "กัปตันมาร์เวล"

       ขณะที่ช่วงปลายอาชีพค้าแข้งได้ย้ายไปเล่นกับ "เดอะ โบโร" มิดเดิลสโบรห์ ในระดับดิวิชัน 1 ปี 1994 พร้อมกับสามารถพาทีมเลื่อนชั้นสู่พรีเมียร์ลีกในปีเดียวกัน ก่อนจะก้าวเป็นผู้จัดการทีมดังกล่าวในปี 1996-2000 แม้จะมีทีมที่มีสีสันและแข้งดังมากมาย

       ทว่าในปี 2001 "กัปตันมาร์เวล" ก็ต้องโดนปลดจากตำแหน่งหลังทำ "โบโร" ตกชั้นสู่แชมเปียนชิป จึงย้ายไปคุมทีม แบรดฟอร์ด ซิตี ปี 2003-2004 และเปลี่ยนงานไปนำทัพ เวสต์ บรอมวิช อัลเบียน ในปี 2004-2006 ก่อนทิ้งท้ายตำแหน่งกุนซือในลีกผู้ดีด้วยการคุมทัพ เชฟฟิลด์ ยูไนเต็ด ระหว่างปี 2007-2008

       ปัจจุบัน ไบรอัน ร็อบสัน กลับไปร่วมงานกับสโมสร แมนเชสเตอร์ ยูไนเต็ด อีกครั้งในฐานะทูตประจำสโมสร หลังได้รับการแต่งตั้งให้ทำหน้าที่ดังกล่าวเมื่อเดือนมีนาคมปี 2008
